Peter's story

The story so far...

I developed my understanding of the corporate environment in a range of fast-moving service industries with high profile clients. After experience in line management, I became an HR Manager for a leading hotel group, then a Marketing Manager, a National Account Manager, and a Manager of Learning & Development for American Express - a high intensity crucible for learning that set me in good stead for becoming the coach I am today.

Since becoming an independent consultant, coach and facilitator over 15 years ago, I have worked with executives, and senior managers in private, public and voluntary sectors including multi-cultural organisations. I've also launched and ran a successful learning and development consultancy with my business partner, Ian Mackenzie. I am now also working as a coach supervisor to many professional coaches and have set up a number of coach supervision groups.  I benefit from regular supervision and maintain an active CPD leaning journal, to sustain my accreditation.

I regularly work in the related areas of Leadership, Change, Performance Management, and Communication Skills, and use real scenarios in workshops whenever possible, and work with actors when appropriate.

My key skills are:

  • creative learning design, drawing on accelerated learning, NLP, appreciative inquiry, story telling, solutions focus, and self-directed approaches to learning
  • as an effective and persuasive communicator and networker
  • as a mentor, coach, coach supervisor, and facilitator of learning groups and teams
  • in creating strong relationships with clients to co-develop new areas of work
  • in developing management and leadership skills - from team leaders to senior managers
  • in drawing on principles of the "learning organisation" and on current thinking in management, leadership, coaching and learning strategies

My credentials include:

  • NCFE Diploma in Performance Coaching in 2005
